How do you get CatchON TV on a Firestick?
To get CatchON TV on a Firestick, install the Downloader app from the Amazon Appstore, turn on Developer Options, allow Downloader to install unknown apps, and use it to install an IPTV player. Then open the player, choose an Xtream Codes login and enter the username, password and server URL from your CatchON TV activation message.

Before you start
- Your CatchON TV username, password and server URL.
- A Fire TV device connected to the internet. For 4K channels, use a 4K-capable model.
- A few hundred megabytes of free storage (Settings › My Fire TV › About › Storage).
Shortcut: if the player you want is listed in the Amazon Appstore, install it from there and skip steps 1–3 and the clean-up in step 6.
Step-by-step installation
Step 1: Install Downloader from the Amazon Appstore
From the Fire TV home screen open Find, then Search, type “Downloader”, select the app and choose Get or Download.
Step 2: Turn on Developer Options
Open Settings, My Fire TV, About, then select your device name seven times until a message confirms you are a developer.
Amazon’s own developer documentation describes this same menu path for enabling Developer Options and the unknown-sources setting (see Connect to Fire TV through ADB). On some recent models Developer Options is already visible and you can skip this step.
Step 3: Allow Downloader to install apps
Go to Settings, My Fire TV, Developer Options, Install unknown apps, and switch Downloader to ON. Older Fire OS versions call this Apps from Unknown Sources.
Step 4: Install an IPTV player
Open Downloader and enter the download link of the player app support recommended, published on the developer’s own website. Choose Install when prompted.
Only download player apps from their developer’s official site. Installing apps from unknown sources can expose your device to security risks, which is why step 6 turns the permission back off.
Step 5: Sign in with your CatchON TV login
Open the player, choose Xtream Codes login and enter the username, password and server URL from your activation message.
Step 6: Load the guide and tidy up
Update the EPG in the player’s settings, add favourites, then turn Downloader’s unknown-apps permission back off.
Which Fire TV model should you use?
Any current Fire TV device can run an IPTV player. The differences show up in picture quality and speed. A Fire TV Stick Lite or an older first-generation stick handles HD well but cannot output 4K. For 4K channels, use a Fire TV Stick 4K, Fire TV Stick 4K Max or Fire TV Cube with a 4K television. Models with more memory also switch channels faster and keep large channel lists responsive.

Downloader says the app is blocked
Repeat step 3 and check that the permission is switched on for Downloader specifically, not another app.
Channels open slowly or buffer
Fire TV sticks rely on Wi-Fi. Move the router closer, use the 5 GHz network, or add Amazon’s Ethernet adapter. Clearing the player’s cache (Settings › Applications › Manage Installed Applications) also helps on older sticks. Check the recommended speeds on the supported devices page.
“Not enough storage”
Uninstall unused apps and clear the cache of large ones, then try the installation again.
For other devices, see the CatchON TV setup guide or the Smart TV guide.
