How to watch CatchON TV on a Smart TV

Samsung, LG and Android-based TVs can all run CatchON TV without an extra stick. The method depends on the operating system: Android TV signs in directly, while Samsung and LG players are often activated by MAC address.

Can you watch CatchON TV on a Smart TV?

Yes. Install an IPTV player from your TV’s app store: Samsung Apps on Tizen, the LG Content Store on webOS, or Google Play on Android TV and Google TV. Then sign in with your CatchON TV Xtream Codes login, or link your M3U playlist to the app through the TV’s MAC address on the player’s website.

Samsung and LG: MAC-based activation

Many Tizen and webOS players don’t let you type a login on the TV. Instead they identify the TV by its MAC address:

Step 1: Install the player from the TV’s app store

Open Samsung Apps (Tizen) or the LG Content Store (webOS), search for the IPTV player support recommended and install it.

Step 2: Note the MAC address and device key

Open the player. It shows a MAC address and usually a device key on screen. Write both down or take a photo.

Step 3: Add your playlist on the player’s website

On a phone or computer, open the player developer’s website, enter the MAC address and key, and paste your CatchON TV M3U link.

Step 4: Restart the app and watch

Close and reopen the player on the TV. It downloads your channel list; update the EPG from its settings if the guide is empty.

Some of these players are free for a trial period and then charge their developer a one-time activation fee per TV. That fee is not part of your CatchON TV plan; ask support which player suits your TV model before you pay for one.

The Smart IPTV app

One widely used example is the app called Smart IPTV. Its developer describes it as “Just a media player. No channels included” and lists Samsung Tizen TVs (2022 and newer), LG webOS TVs and Android, Google and Fire TV among supported platforms. Activation is a one-time fee of 5.49 EUR for each TV or device, paid to the developer, and you add your own playlist (siptv.app). With CatchON TV, you upload your M3U link on the Smart IPTV website against the MAC address shown in the app, then restart the app on the TV. Comparing other players? Android TV and Google TV: direct sign-in

  1. Open Google Play on the TV and install an IPTV player that supports Xtream Codes.
  2. Open the player and choose to add a playlist using an Xtream Codes login.
  3. Enter your CatchON TV username, password and server URL, then let the app load channels and the guide.

The process is the same on Android set-top boxes and on Chromecast with Google TV. A Fire TV is not an Android TV; use the Firestick guide for Amazon devices.

Smart TV troubleshooting

The app shows “playlist not found”

Check that you entered the MAC address exactly as shown on the TV (letters and colons included), then restart the app.

The picture stutters on a built-in app

Some older Smart TVs have slow processors. A wired Ethernet connection helps; if it persists, an inexpensive streaming stick is usually smoother. See supported devices for speed recommendations.

For any other device, start with the CatchON TV setup guide.
